Our Coach
Denes Szaszak | Hungary
Qualified coach with decades of experience; European K1 youth champion and Assistant Coach to the Singapore National Kayak Team
Since 2011, Coach Denes leads most of the club's weekly regular training sessions.

Denes has decades of paddling experience all around the world in various craft, starting from his debut as 1999 European Canoe Marathon Youth Champion, to competing in the annual Hawaiian Molokai Hoe (the Olympic race of long-distance ocean paddling). He's also won the Singapore Canoe Marathon K1 Senior Men’s category (31km).
Over the years, Denes has taken the club from strength to strength under his coaching and leadership, helping SPC score many medals both locally and internationally. His technical skills, knowledge and thoughtful approach have contributed to the achievements of many young and older paddlers across Singapore.

Denes also designs training programmes for schools and our club, all of which are carefully structured to maximise performance potential, but also to address injury prevention, safety, and technical skills development.
While some training sessions can be extremely challenging, especially when preparing for international competitions, participants get to experience what it feels like to train at the highest levels of the sport.
Denes' dedication, patience and sense of humour also make paddling fun, safe, and interesting for all.

Mahalo, Coach!
